Suspended in the atrium of the State Docking Building, Kansas, Astra gathers overhead like a weightless cloud or distant nebula.

Layers of transparent panels, each carrying a faint tonal layer, align in space to form a luminous three-dimensional volume that appears to change with every step you take. The work invites slow looking and movement around it. Walk beneath it and the shape disappears only to form again from another angle, an experience shaped by your own movement and line of sight.

The title echoes the Kansas motto Ad Astra per Aspera, “To the stars through difficulty”.
