White Space

White takes on the shifting presence of cloud and light.

White Space suggests a cloud floating within a box. Its edges dissolve into the transparent structure that contains it. The title shifts attention from the form to the intervals around and within it. White becomes density and illumination, bringing the limits of perception into focus. The work holds containment and diffusion in tension. As the viewer moves around the artwork, the form appears suspended in space. Seen directly from the side, it breaks apart into thin layers, only to reform as the viewer shifts position. Its apparent continuity depends on where we stand.
