A white radial field opens across the gallery, poised between explosion and implosion.
Vision II magnifies a recurring form within Spriggs’ work until it exceeds comfortable overview. Painted marks accelerate towards a dark aperture while radiating beyond it, creating an image that appears to emerge and collapse at the same time.
The form can suggest an iris, a shock wave, or a field at the instant of rupture, yet it never settles into a single referent. Its ambiguity gives the work its force. The viewer recognises an event before being able to name what is happening.

The field of vision
The viewer does not look at a self contained object. The body stands within the image’s spatial field, becoming the position around which its fragments align. From the principal viewpoint, the installation gathers into a powerful whole; from the side, it dissolves into intervals and edges.
White operates simultaneously as illumination and erasure. It reveals the work’s structure while pushing its boundaries towards disappearance. The dark centre concentrates the gaze, making vision itself feel physical, directed, and exposed.
